Manual for hanging wallpaper (Overlap Method)

Photo wallpaper standard and premium class

The wallpaper strips are numbered sequentially, with the lowest number to be applied first.

Start applying the wallpaper from left to right. Ensure the seams of the wallpaper are aligned closely, with an overlap of 1.5 to 3 cm.

Remove old paint or wallpaper

Before applying new wallpaper, the wall should be thoroughly cleaned. We recommend removing any existing wallpaper. If you encounter difficulties, try using warm water to soften the paper and glue for easier removal.

2

Make sure the wall surface is clean and smooth.

We recommend using painter’s putty to even out any uneven areas on the clean wall. If the wall surface is porous, apply a primer before hanging the wallpaper.

Surfaces such as walls with old wallpaper, polished walls, or any MDF surfaces are considered porous. Additionally, if the wall has bright colors, applying a primer is advisable to prevent any potential see-through effect.

Hanging the wallpaper

1

Inspect the Wallpaper

Before installation, thoroughly inspect the wallpaper to ensure all elements of the design are present and that there are no damaged or defective rolls. To confirm that the pattern aligns correctly, lay out the wallpaper strips side by side.

The image on the right edge of each strip will overlap with the left edge of the next strip by 1.5 to 3 cm. Mark these overlaps carefully to ensure a seamless final image.

Please note: Returns are not accepted once the wallpaper has been applied. Be sure to check everything before hanging the wallpaper.

2

Mark the wall before hanging the first strip of the wallpaper.

It is crucial to hang the first strip of wallpaper evenly.

To start, follow these steps to mark your wall:

  1. Measure the width of the wallpaper strip with a measuring tape.
  2. Use this measurement to mark the distance from the edge of the wall to where the seam of your wallpaper strip will be.
  3. Using a pencil and a level, draw a vertical line at the marked distance. This line will guide you when hanging the first strip of wallpaper.

Ensure the line is faint enough to avoid it showing through the wallpaper.

3

Prepare the glue.

Fill your bucket with water (see packaging for the amount of water to dilute).

Begin stirring the water, and while doing so, gradually add the glue, continuously mixing as you go. Once all the glue has been added, continue stirring for an additional minute. Let the mixture sit for 10 minutes, then stir it again for one more minute. Your glue is now ready for use.

Note: If you are using glue from a different manufacturer, follow the instructions provided on the packaging.

4

Apply glue to the wall

Gradually apply glue to the wall, covering slightly more than the width of one wallpaper strip. Only start applying glue for the next section after the previous strip has been hung.

Ensure the glue is spread evenly to prevent air bubbles from forming under the wallpaper.

5

Hang the first strip of the wallpaper, using the previous vertical mark as a guide.

For the best result, we recommend using a pressure roller.

6

Hang the second strip of the paper, with overlap.

Carefully hang the second strip, overlapping it with the first. Refer to the image below as a guide. Ensure that no glue gets on the front side of the wallpaper.

Note: Avoid creasing or wrinkling during application, as this can cause damage to the wallpaper as it dries.

7

Carefully smooth out the wallpaper, at its surface area.

Gently smooth the wallpaper using a pressure roller or your hands, working from the center of the strip toward the seams. Any small air bubbles and wrinkles will disappear as the wallpaper dries.

If glue stains appear on the front of the wallpaper, gently remove them with a damp sponge before the glue dries.

Attention: Do not scrub the surface forcefully; use gentle motions to remove the glue.

8

Cut off excess wallpaper, not waiting until the glue dries out in order to create an even connection.

To ensure a seamless connection, cut off excess wallpaper before the glue dries. Follow the guide below to remove the overlapping wallpaper.

Using a sharp utility knife, cut through the excessive overlapping part of the wallpaper.(1) Lift up the overlapping strip of wallpaper(2), revealing the underneath of the left face side of the wallpaper (3) carefully remove the strip of paper which was cut off the wall on the right. (4) glue back the remaining strip of the wallpaper, using the pressure roller.

9

Trim Excess Wallpaper

Once the wallpaper is hung, use a sharp utility knife and a spatula to trim off any excess.

10

Wait 24 hours or until the glue is completely dry for the final results. Ensure there are no drafts in the room.

Make yourself comfortable and enjoy your newly decorated space!

Note: Vinyl wallpaper is less porous than non-woven wallpaper. Therefore, if applied to a non-porous, damp surface, it may take longer to dry.
